The Boston Celtics newly thin frontcourt rotation might be about to get even thinner, with rumbles that several teams have emerged as potential suitors for veteran Celtics forward Al Horford. Per senior reporter Michael Scotto of our sister site HoopsHype, the University of Florida alum “has received interest from several contending teams since the start of free agency.”
Previously, it had been reported that the Golden State Warriors were targeting the Dominican big man. That list grows with the HoopsHype reporter adding the Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Denver Nuggets to the list of aspiring contenders hoping to pry Horford away from Boston this offseason.
Earlier in the first day of the league’s 2025 free agency period, the Celtics lost backup big man Luke Kornet to the San Antonio Spurs on a four-year, $41 million deal, signing deep rotation center Luka Garza to help shore up the loss.
At present, Boston only has Garza, Neemias Queta, and Xavier Tillman Sr. under contract as bigs with actual NBA playing experience.
