During his first day as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Aaron Rodgers told his teammates that he was “all in” on the 2025 season. It appears that is indeed the case as the four-time league MVP is hosting some of his teammates for private workouts ahead of next month’s training camp.
Tight end Pat Freiermuth, wideout DK Metcalf and several other receivers have made the trip to Malibu, California to work out with Rodgers. Backup wideout Ben Skowronek shared a video of Instagram of himself dunking a basketball off of a lob pass from Rodgers, who also played some basketball back in the day before committing to football.
Following his first practice as a Steeler, Rodgers told the assembled media that he would invite some of his new teammates to his house to get some extra work in before the start of training camp. After missing all of the team’s voluntary workouts, Rodgers could surely use the extra work with Pittsburghs’ receiving corps that also includes Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson.

While they didn’t get that work in the spring, Rodgers and his receiving corps are now making up for lost time. Their decision to use some their remaining downtime before the start of training camp is an example of the group’s desire to maximize the upcoming season, which Rodgers recently said will more than likely be his last.
This should also quell any doubts of Rodgers being all in this season. While it took him far longer than most everyone expected to come to a decision on the 2025 season, it appears that, once Rodgers made up his mind to sign with Pittsburgh, he was fully committing himself to the cause that is the Steelers’ 2025 season.
It also appears that the Steelers are fully committed to maximizing what is likely their lone season with Rodgers. This week, the Steelers bolstered their receiving corps when they acquired Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith in the trade with the Dolphins that also included former All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
While it cost them five-time Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, the Steelers are considered a better team now than they were prior to the trade. Pittsburgh is not only trying to snap its drought without a playoff win (which dates back to the end of the 2016), the trade with the Dolphins also appears to signify that the Steelers believe that, with Rodgers in tow, they have a legitimately chance at getting to their first Super Bowl in 15 years.
