Dayana Yastremska of the Ukraine made quick waves at Wimbledon. Yastremska upset American major champion Coco Gauff in the first round. The 5-foot-7, 25-year-old was ranked 42nd entering the grass Grand Slam event. She had made it through to a semifinal in a major once, that being the 2024 Australian Open. Yastremska's best Wimbledon performance to date was the Round of 16 in 2019. She gained the third round with a win over Anastasia Zakharova in a match that went to a third-set tiebreak. Yastremska has won three WTA titles and more than $5,000,000 in her career.
