Enzo Maresca has said he only wants players who are “happy” to be at Chelsea following speculation about the future of Noni Madueke.

Madueke came on as a second half substitute as the Blues recorded a hard fought 2-1 win against Palmeiras to advance to the semi finals of the Club World Cup.

Estevao Willian cancelled out Cole Palmer’s opener, before Malo Gusto’s deflected striker seven minutes from time gave Chelsea the lead which they held onto.

Maresca speaks on Madueke future

Chelsea have made three attacking signings already this summer and haven’t ruled out making another, which has led to speculation over Madueke’s future.

The 23-year-old is attracting interest from Arsenal, and Chelsea have reportedly set an asking price of £50m for the winger.

Madueke is said to be open to joining Arsenal, but the Gunners have yet to make an offer to Chelsea, and have only held conversations with the player’s camp.

When asked about Madueke’s future after the Palmeiras game, Maresca sent a clear message and warned he only wants players who are “happy” to be at the club.

“Noni has been very important for us during this season,” he told his post-match press conference.

“Today, again, he has been important. But my message to the players and to the club is that I want just players that are happy to be with us.

“The ones that are not happy, they are free to go. It’s not for Noni, it’s for all the players we have. But again, Noni has been very good during the season and very good tonight.”

Joao Pedro makes impressive debut

Whilst questions continue to swirl in regards to Madueke’s future, new signing Joao Pedro made an impressive debut against Palmeiras.

The 23-year-old was officially announced by Chelsea earlier this week, and despite only having a couple of training sessions under his belt, Maresca handed him his debut.
