We have heard so much this offseason about Pittsburgh Steelers DNA and building the culture of this team. It was why the team traded away wide receiver George Pickens and an ongoing theme when the front office and coaches talked about the team’s 2025 NFL draft class.
Then there’s cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
When the Steelers traded for the All-Pro cornerback in late June, the first thought was that Ramsey didn’t seem to be the type of guy who would enhance the Steelers locker room in any way, based on rumors and speculation. But David Hyde of the South Florida Sun Sentinel confirmed that there have been plenty of reasons for Miami not to miss Ramsey and plenty of reasons for the Steelers to be concerned.
“The Miami Dolphins won’t miss cornerback Jalen Ramsey,” Hyde wrote. “They won’t miss him regularly showing up for practice as the rest of the team was in the middle of stretching. They won’t miss how he constantly undermined Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio two years ago and coach Mike McDaniel last season in a manner that spread like a bad odor through the larger team.”
Meanwhile, the Steelers traded away safety Minkah Fitzpatrick in the Ramsey trade, who is one of the most professional, team-first guys in the entire NFL. If Ramsey is really the guy Hyde is describing, it could spell disaster for the team.
