Dallas Mavericks All-Star Anthony Davis underwent a procedure to repair a detached retina that he suffered during the season, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Davis is expected to be healthy for training camp, his first with the Mavs since being dealt to Dallas in the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to Los Angeles.
Davis dazzled in his Mavericks debut, posting 26 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocks before leaving that game with a groin injury that would sideline him for the next six weeks.
All totaled, Davis played in 11 games for Dallas, including two play-in games in which he averaged 33.5 points and 9.0 rebounds.
Davis is expected to shoulder a heavy load this season, with star point guard Kyrie Irving set to miss a substantial portion of the season recovering from a torn ACL. Dallas did however select Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 pick in last month’s NBA draft.
