NFL Media’s Tom Blair set out to build the best NFL roster while staying under the 2025 salary cap, and included were two members of the Chargers.
“I embarked on a perfect July exercise: building The Best Team Money Can Buy, assembling the most imposing 53-man roster I could under the 2025 NFL salary cap,” Blair wrote. The salary cap hit the $279.2 million mark this season.
Ladd McConkey made up one of the three starting wide receivers, with the other two being Vikings‘ Justin Jefferson and Rams‘ Puka Nacua. McConkey only comes with a cap hit of $2.27 million this season.
“Ladd McConkey should be even better in the slot than he was as the Chargers’ main receiving option in 2024, when he finished with the second-most yards out of that alignment in the NFL (801), per NGS,” Blair said.
The other Charger was Tarheeb Still, who provided depth at the cornerback position. Still’s 2025 cap hit is $1.05 million.
Still tied for second among rookies last season with four interceptions.
