Galeries Lafayette names Alexandre Liot deputy CEO, Alix Morabito head of products and purchasing

Arthur Lemoine, recently named CEO of Parisian department store group Galeries Lafayette, has called on two of the organisation’s key senior executives to boost the group’s operational running.

On Tuesday, the group announced that Alexandre Liot and Alix Morabito have been appointed to new positions, reporting to Lemoine. 

Liot has been with Galeries Lafayette since 1997, and has risen through the group’s ranks. After taking charge of the Galeries Lafayette’s flagship Haussmann branch in Paris in 2018, in 2022 he was promoted to the post of group COO. In a press release, the group stated that Liot has now been named deputy CEO in charge of operations within the executive committee.

Morabito first joined Galeries Lafayette in 2005 as womenswear buyer. She then joined local rival Printemps as buyer for the designer fashion range, subsequently moving to Parisian label Chloé to take charge of accessories and licensing. In 2015, Morabito returned to Galeries Lafayette as deputy head of menswear purchasing. In 2022, she was named head of purchasing for womenswear, lingerie and childrenswear, and she has now been appointed head of products and purchasing, also becoming a member of the executive committee. 

“Alexandre and Alix are both passionate about retail and fashion, and throughout their respective careers they have always put customers at the heart of their decisions. I am very pleased to elevate their responsibilities working alongside me within the executive committee, as together we embark on a new stage in the group’s growth,” said Lemoine in a press release. “Their promotions are also a strong signal that Galeries Lafayette is able to foster inspirational and committed leaders who can stay with the group for the long term,” he added. 

Galeries Lafayette currently operates 57 department stores in France, including the flagship Parisian branch in boulevard Haussmann. The group owns 19 of these stores, while 38 are run by franchisees. Outside France, the group has 11 between existing and future stores.
