Digital resale fashion platform Depop has introducing Outfits, a all-new in-app tool  “designed to empower users to style, plan, and experiment with their personal looks, using real inventory from the marketplace”.

“Among the first of its kind in the resale space”, Depop said the launch marks a “pivotal step in its broader strategy to elevate [our] ‘People-Powered Experience’.

This encourages engagement “beyond buying and selling and turning Depop into a destination people return to daily for inspiration, creativity, and connection”, it noted.

It said the fully shoppable styling and collaging tool allows users to pull together looks in a moodboard-style experience directly from any item listing and purchase their full outfit.

Sonia Biddle, Depop’s chief product officer, said: “From outfit planning and style exploration to creating content for social sharing, Outfits puts the power of self-expression in the hands of our users — no pins, no tabs, just style made simple.”

She added that “Outfits is more than just a tool, it’s a foundational step in Depop’s long-term strategy to create a more socially driven experience. It supports our differentiation in the resale market by leaning into what makes our community unique: creative styling, fashion exploration, and culture-driven commerce”.

Key features of the Outfits tool include the ability for users to browse Depop listings, select items, and begin building outfits via a scissor icon. The background of each item is automatically removed using integrated technology and saved in ‘Likes & Saves’ where it can be edited, added to, or shopped later.

All items featured are shoppable, with suggestions for similar items if something sells out.

Meanwhile, users can share static images of their Outfits to platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest.

Following its 24 September introduction, Depop said new functionality and features will roll out over the coming months “as [we] continue to expand what’s possible in social commerce”.
