Harvey Nichols is transforming its Knightsbridge, London, flagship and shortly after unveiling its new ground floor jewellery area, it has launched the 125 space that boosts its wider design focus rather than just the fashion credentials for which it’s best known.

The new retail destination, also on the flagship’s ground floor, unites “both world-renowned designers and rising talent through curated edits in home and lifestyle [and] celebrates design, collaboration and craftsmanship”.
Anchoring the space is a new immersive installation by artist Gary Card, ‘Harvey, Nick, Joe and Tom’ with the retailer’s creative director Kate Phelan saying: “We wanted to add a bold, sculptural element to 125 that would surprise and captivate customers, as well as signifying a new era for the brand. Gary’s totem brings this vision to life, welcoming customers as they enter the space, whilst also setting the perfect tone through his spirited use of scale, colour and form.”
As for the retail space itself, it features an edited curation of design and lifestyle objects, “intended to inspire”.
What that means is, for instance, Claire de Rouen having selected an evolving collection of rare books on visual culture, celebrating art, fashion and photography; pared-back, minimalist speakers by Scandinavian brand Transparent; Natalia Criado’s hand-finished pieces “that blur the line between jewellery and tabletop design”; Alighieri Casa with sculptural silver and gold-plated pieces, “transforming everyday dining into a statement experience”; Georg Jensen’s famous designs; Gohar World’s “playful tablewear”; Corsi Design’s richly glazed flexible resin homeware accessories; and glassware by Laguna B.

There’s also a new flexible space, “providing a unique platform for innovative design”. This autumn, it features ‘Take A Seat’ by Brigitta Spinocchia Freund in collaboration with PAD London, the fair for historical and contemporary design. With a bespoke installation of “iconic” chairs on the ground floor, the edit will extend throughout the Knightsbridge store and will be the first collaboration in the space.
CEO Julia Goddard said: “We believe each aspect of our customers’ lives is a fashion choice, extending from clothing to interiors, design, fragrance and beauty. 125 brings that philosophy to life, creating a space that reflects our approach to style and sets the tone for the customer experience across the entire store.”
