Italian fashion group Aeffe is taking the first steps towards recovery. The Chamber of Commerce for Romagna Forlì-Cesena and Rimini has appointed Riccardo Ranalli as the independent expert who will oversee the negotiated settlement procedure Aeffe and its subsidiary Pollini had applied for on October 2, in the light of Aeffe’s financial difficulties.

Ranalli confirmed his acceptance of the assignment on October 8. Aeffe and Pollini’s application for the procedure, and Ranalli’s acceptance, were published in the relevant company registry the following day. Aeffe has also stated that it filed a request for insolvency protection measures with the Bologna court on October 10.
The procedure initiated by Aeffe excludes the group’s other subsidiaries, like Alberta Ferretti and Moschino. Failure to reach a negotiated settlement would pave the way for judicial proceedings, for example a company voluntary arrangement.
Aeffe has been struggling for over two years, its revenue and profitability plummeting. The group launched cost-cutting measures after reporting revenue of €100 million (down 27%) for H1, while its losses grew to €28.5 million.
The announcement that Aeffe’s board, led by Massimo Ferretti, had applied for a negotiated settlement of the group’s crisis caused Aeffe’s share price to hit a new low (at €0.25, down 43.3%), shrinking the group’s market capitalisation to less than €30 million.
