Cartier opens expanded Miami Design District flagship

Cartier has reopened its newly designed and expanded regional flagship boutique in the Miami Design District.

Located at 147 NE 39th Street, the boutique houses a full range of the Maison’s creations, including jewelry, fine jewelry, watches, leather goods, fragrance, and accessories. 

The store is characterized by a stunning façade designed by longtime Cartier collaborators Diller Scofidio + Renfro: “We conceived the wraparound façade in undulating glass to draw in passersby while knitting together the store and the street,” explained Elizabeth Diller, founding partner. 

“Etched on its surface is a pattern adapted from a 1909 Cartier brooch, which produces a diaphanous effect, allowing views into the store while preserving its sense of mystique.” 

Inside, the boutique was imagined by interior designer Laura Gonzalez. Inspired by the deep and rich cultural heritage of Miami, the interior showcases a vibrant, colorful space that captures Miami’s natural landscape as well as the flora and fauna reflected in Cartier’s iconic creations. 

A sculptural seashell staircase connects the floors, leaf motifs climb columns to the ceiling on the first floor, while the ground floor features organic shapes and bright colors. The experience culminates on an outdoor roof terrace surrounded by verdant plants and colorful tiles.

“I imagined the store as a sensory journey. Each space evokes a different emotion: vitality and movement at the entrance, intimacy in the VIP lounges on the first floor, conviviality on the terrace with its welcoming, custom-made wavy benches,” explained Gonzalez. “The entire journey is designed as a succession of landscapes intended to arouse curiosity and wonder.”
