Breton clothing brand Saint James is launching its Phospho line, which for the first time features phosphorescent elements inspired by marine bioluminescence.

Unveiled at the MIF Expo trade fair, held in Paris from November 6 to 9, the line includes the brand’s signature marinière, a sailor’s jumper and a beanie. It also features a “Toutoupull” designed for dogs.

Priced at €129 for a marinière and €199 for a jumper, the pieces promise one to two hours of bioluminescence after three hours’ exposure to natural or artificial light.

The green luminous effect is achieved using a polyester yarn that incorporates non-toxic mineral pigments, integrated during manufacture.

With 400 employees and around €70 million in export turnover, Saint James is preparing another first for spring: the brand’s first marinière made from linen. The flax will be grown and spun in France, the brand’s CEO, Luc Lesénécal, told FashionNetwork.com.
