The 1,100-square-foot space features a distinctive triangular layout anchored by troweled cement, black oak, steel, and grey glass. Subtle lighting enhances the interplay between these rugged textures and the brand’s modern, refined silhouettes.

The boutique debuts with a curated collection that includes Rubin & Chapelle’s sought-after bias- and spiral-cut silk tops, dresses, and jackets. Made-to-measure pieces will also be available, offered in a range of fabric options.

The Newport Beach location will additionally launch R&C Projects, an ongoing initiative inviting artists to create bespoke patterns and textile prints in collaboration with the brand. A curated lineup of artists will help celebrate the store’s debut, including Aura Rosenberg, Anna Ostoya, Tamar Halpern, Gregory Coates, Wolfgang Stiller, and Kara Walker, among others.

“We are thrilled to open at Fashion Island, which has always been a special place for me. I have made a point of visiting when in California throughout the years,” said designer and co-founder Kip Chapelle.

“I love the calm and sophisticated atmosphere of the property. It’s been a pleasure to be working with Jeff Goldberger from UE Architecture, who captured the spirit of Rubin & Chapelle in the space.”

Rubin & Chapelle made its mark in 2002 with a flagship boutique in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. That store closed in 2013, and the brand later returned to Manhattan with a location at 964 Madison Avenue. A Malibu boutique followed in 2011.

Designer and co-founder Sonja Rubin added, “Being so close to the ocean reminds me of our Malibu boutique, where we welcomed many clients from Orange County. Fashion Island and the surrounding coastal community embodies a lifestyle that values our high-quality fabrics and designs, as well as our commitment to ethical and sustainable processes that align with a SoCal ethos. We are very excited to bring Rubin & Chapelle to this beautiful region.”
