After much speculation, the Houston Rockets pulled off a big move on the final day of the NBA season, trading for Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns.
The Rockets were the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference this season, finishing with one of the best records in the league. They could potentially improve next season, though it’s worth noting that Houston gave Phoenix two of its occasional starters in Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks.
They also gave Phoenix the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft (which actually originally belonged to the Suns) as well as five second-round picks.
But considering the Rockets already had one of the deepest rotations in basketball, this trade consolidates some assets to land one of the best scorers to ever play the game. This is a fun move for the Rockets, and here is how we predict it will look before any further transactions via free agency or secondary trades:
Point Guard: Fred VanVleet
Backup: Aaron Holiday
Shooting Guard: Amen Thompson
Backup: Reed Sheppard
Small Forward: Kevin Durant
Backup: Cam Whitmore
Power Forward: Jabari Smith Jr.
