Abyss Confirms In-Ring Status – Wrestlezone

Abyss is done wrestling, but the man behind the mask isn’t opposed to another return of sorts.

Chris Park played Abyss in TNA for nearly 18 years, and the character was one of the company’s most popular stars. Park hasn’t wrestled in more than six years, but fans have still wondered if he would ever return to the ring.

Park has been a producer/agent with WWE since 2019. He recently spoke with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful about Abyss’ inclusion in the WWE 2K25 Dunk & Destruction DLC pack. During the conversation, Park addressed his in-ring status and said he’s not planning on wrestling again.

“To answer quite frankly, I’m done. I don’t have plans to ever wrestle again. Never say never, but I don’t see it in the cards, and I don’t want it in the cards,” he explained. “I’m so happy [with] what I’m doing as a producer.”

Park continued, clarifying that he has not pushed for an on-air role. However, he wouldn’t be opposed to reviving his Joseph Park character as an on-screen persona.

Joseph Park was the storyline brother of Abyss in TNA, although it was just Chris Parks without a mask. Joseph was a fictional lawyer (who worked for “Park, Parks, and Park”) who was searching for his missing brother. The payoff ultimately came at TNA’s Hardcore Justice 3 in 2013, where Park “transformed” back into Abyss.

Abyss was TNA’s second-ever Grand Slam Champion. He won the (NWA) World Heavyweight Championship, X Division Championship, TNA Television Championship, and had three reigns as TNA/NWA Tag Team Champion during his tenure. TNA welcomed Abyss into its Hall of Fame, inducting him in 2018.
