The 2025 NBA draft opened with the first round on Wednesday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, home of the Nets.
Duke forward Cooper Flagg was the No. 1 overall pick by Dallas. Following the first 30 picks in round No. 1, the second round, picks 31-59, will take place Thursday. The NBA draft second round is slated for Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT and will be televised by ESPN.
Tennessee senior guard Chaz Lanier was not selected in the first round.
USA TODAY lists the former Vol as a best available player. Lanier and Arkansas’ Adou Thiero are best available guards by USA TODAY for the second round.
He played for the Vols during the 2024-25 season under head coach Rick Barnes, after transferring from North Florida. Lanier holds Tennessee’s program record for three-point field goals made during a single season (123), eclipsing Chris Lofton’s record (118) set during the 2007-08 season.
