This free agent signing is reportedly pushing Jaguars’ OT Anton Harrison for playing time this offseason.
Former first-round pick Anton Harrison has been the Jacksonville Jaguars’ starting right tackle for the last two seasons, but according to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco, free agent signee Chuma Edoga received his share of first-team reps at right tackle during offseason programs.
DiRocco recently highlighted five Jaguars players with “something to prove in 2025,” and included on that list was Harrison.
“He didn’t make big strides in the spring, either,” DiRocco wrote of Harrison. “He missed one of the OTAs open to the media because of an illness and when he was healthy and participating in the OTAs and minicamp open to the media he rotated with free-agent signee Chuma Edoga with the starters.”
As DiRocco also noted, Harrison ranked 60th last season among all tackles in ESPN’s pass-block win rate metric, and he was 51st in run-block win rate.
“Obviously, the footwork, the athleticism, the ability to pass pro on an edge,” Coen said of Harrison during minicamp. “And when Anton wants to go, he can go. Just consistently doing it on a day-in, day-out basis.
“He’s smart. He understands the why of what we’re trying to get accomplished, but as much as he can continue to rise going into Year 3, and as a first-round pick, to take a huge step this year and be a lockdown tackle for us.”
Edoga signed a two-year, $7 million deal with the Jaguars this offseason. He is a former third-round pick who has spent the last two seasons with Dallas.
Over his career, Edoga has appeared in 48 games and made 23 starts. In five games in 2024 with Dallas, Edoga allowed two sacks and seven pressures and was an average run blocker by PFF’s metrics.
An obvious point of emphasis this offseason for the Jaguars has been on bolstering the play of the offensive line unit, and to help accomplish that, they’ve added a lot of competition, which they very much leaned into during OTAs and minicamp.
