Former Bengals star keeps Steelers open as option in free agency

Could the Cincinnati Bengals line up against former wideout Tyler Boyd twice next season…if he joins the Pittsburgh Steelers

The idea certainly seems to be on the table. At his recent youth football camp at Tyler Boyd Stadium in Clairton, Boyd was inevitably asked about joining the Steelers in free agency.

“Absolutely,” Boyd said. “You know, all my family is here. I’d be able to have the majority of them be able to support me.”

Boyd was linked to the Steelers in reports last year before he reunited with Brian Callahan, signing with the Tennessee Titans and going on to catch 39 passes for 390 yards over 16 games.

Those Steelers already remade the wideout room around DK Metcalf this offseason, but a veteran presence with a local boost would make sense.

The Bengals, meanwhile, wrapped up the Ja’Marr Chase-Tee Higgins duo on new contracts and have an interesting battle going on between Andrei Iosvias and Jermaine Burton for the third spot on the depth chart (when the slot looks aren’t going to tight end Mike Gesicki, anyway).
