The New England Patriots made multiple improvements to their offensive line throughout the offseason. However, Pro Football Focus’ Zoltán Buday still has them ranked as one of the worst offensive line units in the NFL heading into the 2025 season.
The only teams that ranked worse than the Patriots, who came in at No. 29 on the list, were the Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks.
It’s certainly not from a lack of moves made by the Patriots in free agency and the 2025 NFL draft. They signed veteran right tackle Morgan Moses and center Garrett Bradbury, along with drafting rookies Will Campbell, Jared Wilson and Marcus Bryant.
The team invested the No. 4 overall pick of the draft on Campbell, who many hope will develop into a franchise cornerstone at left tackle. They also brought in a new and experienced offensive line coach in former Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone.

“The Patriots made multiple moves to address the NFL’s worst offensive line during the offseason. Right tackle Morgan Moses, who turned 34 in March and missed time due to injury last season, joined on a three-year deal after ranking just 52nd among offensive tackles in PFF overall grade in 2024. New England also signed center Garrett Bradbury, whose 50.5 PFF pass-blocking grade placed him 35th among 39 qualifying centers. First-round left tackle Will Campbell is promising, but it is unlikely a rookie can elevate this unit to even an average level in 2025.”
Despite some fair arguments made, the ranking does seem a little low for the Patriots, given the newest additions to the roster.
The Patriots were a walking disaster in pass protection last season, and adding a reliable veteran player like Moses, combined with the top-tier talent in Campbell, should help mitigate those issues. A learning curve is to be expected for some of the younger talent on the roster.
On paper, however, the unit could be significantly improved over last season.
