The New York Yankees announced on Wednesday that infielder DJ LeMahieu has been designated for assignment, likely ending his seven-season tenure in the Bronx.
The Yankees now have seven days to find a trade partner for LeMahieu or place him on outright or unconditional release waivers.
LeMahieu, who turns 37 on Sunday, has played 45 games this season and recorded a .266 batting average with two home runs and 12 RBI.
