‘Raid 2’, ‘Thug Life’ Lead Netflix Global Top 10 This Week


Ajay Devgn’s Hindi film Raid 2 is charting wonders worldwide ever since its digital premiere – the film has ranked first on Netflix’s weekly global list of most-watched non-English films for two consecutive weeks. Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life also joined the Hindi film on the list for the week ending July 6.

A total of two Indian films and one Indian show have made it to the latest list of most-watched non-English content on Netflix. These include the Hindi film Raid 2, Hindi comedy show The Great Indian Kapil Show and the Tamil film Thug Life.

Raid 2 – Justice Has No Expiry Date registered record viewership on Netflix to retain the top position on the list of most-watched non-English films for a week. It recorded 4.9 million views and 11.2 million watch-hours on the platform in its second week alone. It was also the most-watched film in three countries including India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The film, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, recorded 5.6 million views and made its debut on Netflix as the world’s most-watched non-English film worldwide on the platform. The film had its digital premiere on June 26, just weeks after its theatrical release on May 1.

Headlined by Devgn and Deshmukh, Raid 2 also retained its position as the topmost-watched film online in India for the second week in a row. After recording 4.1 million views last week, it has now registered a whopping 5.5 million views according to Ormax Media.

Netflix Global top 10: Thug Life

Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life ranked at the second slot on Netflix’s list of most-watched non-English films for the week. The Kamal Haasan starrer recorded 2.4 million views in its debut week. It also had 6.6 million watch-hours on the platform since its digital debut on July 3. According to the list for the week ending July 6, Thug Life ranked among the top ten most-watched films on Netflix for the week in 13 countries around the globe.

Kamal Haasan co-wrote Thug Life with Ratnam. The film was produced by Raaj Kamal Films and revolves around a mafia don. Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ali Fazal and Nassar also star in the film alongside Haasan. The film had an underwhelming box office response when it released in theatres last month. Thug Life reunited filmmaker Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan after nearly 40 years – they last worked together on the 1987 cult classic Nayakan.

Netflix Global top 10: The Great Indian Kapil Show

Netflix India original The Great Indian Kapil Show managed to secure the seventh slot on the list of most-watched non-English shows on the platform this week. In its third week on Netflix, the comedy show recorded 1.2 million views and 3.7 million watch-hours. It held the seventh and fourth slots respectively in first and second weeks on Netflix.

The show made its debut in 2024 with two seasons spread across a few months’ difference. The third season premiered on Netflix on June 21 this year.
