Goldberg vs. Gunther at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event
Gunther defeated Goldberg via submission ending a 28-year Hall of Fame career (for now.)
Goldberg’s son Gabe got involved during the main even, and after a scuffle with Gunther, Gunther walked into a Jackhammer. Gunther was able to rally back and trap Goldberg in a rear-naked choke.

6:30 PM Goldberg Walks Out With Ernest “The Cat” Miller
Gunther’s ring introduction began at 6:32 p.m. PST. This is plenty of time for a Goldberg match, and is a result of Seth Rollins’ match against LA Knight being cut short to injury. It’s still unknown whether Seth Rollins’ injury was a work or not.
Goldberg walked out with his son and the icon Ernest “The Cat” Miller. All of Atlanta chanted Goldberg’s name as he gingerly stepped into the ring to a massive pop. WWE went to commercial before the ring introductions.
Fans chanted “You tapped out!” at Gunther before the match started at 6:42 pm PST. The State Farm arena filled up with “Goldberg” chants seconds before the two men touched.
Goldberg threw Gunther to the ground. Back came Gunther, and both wrestlers smashed into each other shoulder-first.
Gunther no-sold Gunther’s chop to a big babyface reaction. Goldberg followed up with a pair of clotheslines as fans started to believe. Goldberg took the action to the outside, but Gunther dove out of the way of a charging Goldberg, who crashed into the barricade.
6:50 PM PST Gunther Fights Gabe, Gunther Submits Goldberg
Gunther mauled Goldberg’s knee when SNME returned from break. Fans desperately rallied behind Goldberg as he fought out of Gunther’s offense.
The announcers played up how Goldberg was going out on his sword, and still has some fight left in him. A fatigued Goldberg reigned down on Gunther in the corner. Gunther went for a power bomb, but Gunther flipped him over. Goldberg followed up with a spear to Charles Robinson.
Gunther pounced on Goldberg’s knee as Goldberg tended to the referee. Wade Barrett begged for another referee.
Gunther pummeled Goldberg with his own knee brace as hope began to slip away from Bill. Gunther taunted Bill’s son, Gabe, telling him “Sit your ass down.”
Gunther shoved Gabe, who jumped the barricade as WWE security escorted Gabe out. Goldberg hit a Spear and followed up with a Jackhammer. A referee ran down and counted two and three-quarters. The State Farm Arena was ready to lose its damn mind when they thought it was three.
Gunther trapped Goldberg in a rear-naked choke. Goldberg faded. Goldberg fought back with one last gasp before fading again. Gunther retained.
