WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2025 marked the first-ever match between Seth Rollins and LA Knight, and it ended in catastrophe.
Two of WWE’s biggest stars kicked off their rivalry at Money in the Bank earlier this year, setting up a planned feud en route to WWE Night of Champions. Although neither star wrestled at that event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, WWE continued the beef between Knight and Rollins across both Raw and SmackDown in the weeks afterward.
At the latest edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, the red hot rivalry between Rollins and Knight came to a head when the stars battled it out inside the State Farm Arena. But in the end, what appeared to be a legitimate knee injury for Rollins cut the match short.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2025 seemingly set the stage for another marquee win for Rollins, and yes, another big loss for Knight. But when Rollins landed awkwardly while attempting consecutive aerial moves, the match was stopped momentarily, and Knight hit Rollins with a quick BFT to end the match.
At Saturday’s NBC Special in the Peach State, “The Megastar” finally had his chance to get his hands on Rollins, and the two top stars battled back and forth in front of a red hot crowd in Atlanta. Just when the match felt like it was kicking into high gear, Rollins appeared to have injured his already previously surgically repaired knee. After a brief consultation with the ringside doctor, Paul Heyman and the referee, it appeared that all parties involved called for the BFT finisher as an audible of a finish.
Rollins appeared to be visibly upset by the injury, and unless WWE is pulling a swerve for the ages, Knight’s win wasn’t the planned finish, at least not in that fashion.
Despite being among WWE’s most beloved fan favorites, Knight had consistently fallen short in major matches, and though beating Rollins at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event is a big “W” on his record, the way it went down suggests it was a fluke victory and nothing more.
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2025 Results: What’s Next For Seth Rollins and LA Knight?
The circumstances surrounding Rollins’ big loss at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event likely mean that WWE will have to go back to the drawing board for all parties involved.
There reportedly have been major discussions within WWE to move Knight to Raw as a fresh start of sorts, but for now, WWE’s happy medium is simply letting Knight appear on Monday nights without an official move to the red brand. The problem is, there isn’t much room for advancement for Knight on either Raw or SmackDown.
With Drew McIntyre recently returning and other key stars like John Cena, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton in SmackDown’s main event scene, Knight is fighting an uphill battle that leaves his next move on his way to SummerSlam as a big question mark. Rollins appeared to have had a clearer path to WWE’s “Biggest Party of the Year.”
Rollins’ seemingly never-ending rivalry with Punk continues to be a significant storyline on Raw while the upcoming return of Roman Reigns poses a threat to Rollins’ faction as well. Before Saturday Night’s Main Event, one likely scenario that was shaping up was Punk and Reigns teaming up to take on Rollins and one member of his faction at SummerSlam. A second option would be that that Reigns, Punk and a third star, perhaps someone like Jey Uso or maybe even Knight, unite to take on Rollins, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
Perhaps the expected return of Reigns, however, could have culminated in a highly anticipated singles match between Reigns and Rollins at SummerSlam, a marquee bout that could potentially headline either night of WWE’s first-ever two-night of SummerSlam. But Rollins injury appeared to be both legitimate and significant, as he was carried to the backstage area following his bout with Knight
With Rollins holding the Money in the Bank briefcase, shockingly losing at Saturday Night’s Main Event and potentially seriously injured, the entire landscape of WWE Raw just changed.
