Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’s “Die With a Smile” celebrates 46 weeks on the Hot 100, passing “Shallow” … More
With each passing week that “Die With a Smile” finds space on the Hot 100, the song continues to climb higher on the list of Lady Gaga’s longest-running successes on Billboard’s most competitive songs tally. The track is nearing its first anniversary on the roster, and with one more frame on the ranking, it inches closer to a major milestone.
“Die With a Smile” Lives Inside the Top 10
“Die With a Smile” is present not just on the Hot 100 again, but inside the top 10. This time around, it dips one spot to No. 9 as it celebrates 46 weeks on the chart.
As of this latest frame, the tune breaks out of a tie with “Shallow,” Gaga’s duet with Bradley Cooper, and becomes her second-longest-running win on the Hot 100. “Shallow,” which disappeared after 45 weeks on the list, is pushed down to third place, as it was tied for second with “Die with a Smile” only days ago.
“Just Dance” Continues to Lead the Charge
Another collaboration, “Just Dance,” which credits Colby O’Donis, still ranks as Gaga’s longest-charting track on the Hot 100, but that might not be the case for much longer. “Just Dance,” which helped introduce Gaga and electronic dance-pop to millions across the U.S. more than a decade ago, lived on the Hot 100 for 49 weeks.
Since the beginning of her career, that tune has stood as Gaga’s most enduring track, but “Die With a Smile” doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.
“Die With a Smile” Remains a Huge Radio Smash
The Hot 100 is compiled every week by Billboard using a methodology that blends sales, streams, and radio activity to show what songs America is listening to. At the moment, “Die With a Smile” sits at No. 3 on the Radio Songs chart, No. 20 on the Digital Song Sales ranking, and No. 21 on the Streaming Songs list. The fact that it is still present on all three of those tallies well over 40 weeks into its lifetime show that there’s a sustained interest in the throwback-sounding collaboration among a huge population in the country.
The Gaga/Mars duet’s continued success across all three of Billboard’s pop radio charts — it sits inside the top 10 on the Pop Airplay, Adult Contemporary, and Adult Pop Airplay rankings — ensures that “Die With a Smile” isn’t about to vanish anytime soon.
