Digital wholesale specialist JOOR has issued its JOOR: Top Global Retailers 2025 report, focusing on “the hottest names” in indie retail. And it said the stores selected have seen 20% year-on-year growth in transaction volume on the platform.

In addition, the number of orders placed by this group of retailers grew 23% and the number of brands purchased by them has increased 17% versus the previous 12 months.

The company launched the inaugural list only last year but this year’s version features as many as 87 new entries, including The Webster and Mitchells in North America, Dongliang and Beams in Asia, and Eraldo and Ekseption in Europe.

Celebrated retailers returning to the list this time include Marissa Collections in the US, Gaudenzi in Italy, and Dover Street Market in the UK.

The full top 100 list is good news for countries like Italy and the US,  both of which have a disproportionately large presence. But it’s less good news for other key markets such as the UK and France.

In fact, Dover Street Market is the only UK name on the list, while Mcmarket is France’s sole qualifier.

By contrast, Italy has 10 Corso Como, 13 Metriquadri, Antonia, Boutique Tricot, Cenere, Chiesa Serafino, Colognese, Deliberti, Eraldo, Fiacchini, Folli Follie, G&B Negozio, Gaudenzi, Grifo Moda, Hobb’s, Hopencio, Lattuada, Leam, Lidia Shopping, Luciana Boutique, Marcesani, Monti, Ratti, SpazioLFashion, Suit, and Tiziana Fausti.

The US has Abersons, Atelier New York, Barbara Jean, Boyds, Bunny & Babe, CK & Co, Dune + Salt, Effies, Elizabeth and Prince, Erica Wilson, Fahrentheit 451, Gretta Luxe, Gypsy, Halls, Halsbrook, Hero Shop, Jill Roberts, l.a.cool, Marisa Collections, Maxfield, Michael Nusskern, Mitchells, Monkee’s of Blowing Rock, Narcissus, Oak Hall, Periwinkle, Pitkin County Dry Goods, Rebecca & Co, Roan, Sam Malouf, Sassanova, Skirt, Sole Amour, The Toggery, The Webster, The Wellground, Two Skirts, Viavia, Willow and Wunderkind.

Other countries represented in the list include Belarus, Lebanon, Cyprus, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Malta, Spain, Greece, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Norway, Andorra, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Luxembourg, South Korea, and Belgium.

JOOR’s SVP of marketing, Amanda McCormick Bacal, said that over the past year, the platform has “witnessed continued growth from the independent fashion retail sector, with businesses achieving success through thoughtful product curation and a deep understanding of their customer”.

In fact, over the past five years, the percentage of total wholesale transaction volume on JOOR attributed to independent retailers has increased significantly from 49% in 2020 to 62% in 2025.
