London to get Ralph Lauren’s Polo Bar in 2028

Ralph Lauren has announced that it will open a new restaurant on London’s Hanover square in 2028. The Polo Bar Ralph Lauren will “build on the international acclaim of The Polo Bar, which opened in New York in 2015 and quickly became a widely celebrated and iconic restaurant”.

The company said it will offer “a refined, yet welcoming dining experience”.

This new bar will also be in a very fashion-focused area in London’s West End (Dries Van Noten recently opened its UK flagship on the square) and the specific site — the former Vogue House — is also very fashion-appropriate.

The designer has a long association with the UK and already has coffee bars there as part of a global hospitality portfolio, including five restaurants – in New York, Paris, Chicago, Milan and Chengdu – and more than 40 Ralph’s Coffee locations around the world.

Meanwhile Polo Ralph Lauren has close ties (as official outfitter) with the world-famous Wimbledon tennis tournament in Britain and Lauren was also the first American fashion designer to honorary knight “for his philanthropic efforts and influence on global style”.

The company said that The Polo Bar Ralph Lauren “builds on the company’s significant and longstanding presence in the United Kingdom, spanning more than 40 years. London is home to Ralph Lauren’s first international flagship store on prestigious New Bond Street that opened in 1981 — an iconic location that continues to stand as a cornerstone in Ralph Lauren’s global retail portfolio. Today, the company operates 12 stores in London, Ralph’s Coffee locations in New Bond Street and Brompton Cross, and sells its products in leading luxury wholesale doors”.
