Jaire Alexander signs 1-year deal to join Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have signed former Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander in a move that adds star power and flexibility to their secondary.

The Ravens announced the signing Wednesday but did not disclose terms. The one-year deal has a base value of $4 million, and Alexander can make up to an additional $2 million in incentives, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The deal comes nine days after Alexander was released by the Packers, ending his seven-year run in Green Bay.

Alexander, 28, is coming off two consecutive injury-played seasons during which he played in a total of just 14 games. The two-time Pro Bowler now joins a Ravens secondary that also includes four-time Pro Bowler Marlon Humphrey and second-year starter Nate Wiggins at cornerback.

If Alexander wins a starting job as an outside cornerback opposite Wiggins, the Ravens could keep Humphrey in his preferred position as a primary slot cornerback.

A first-round draft selection of the Packers in 2018, Alexander was a college teammate of Ravens superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson at Louisville.
