L’Oreal SA appointed Alexis Perakis-Valat as chief executive officer of its US and North America business, turning to a company veteran to drive growth in the largest cosmetics market.

Perakis-Valat, who joined the world’s largest beauty group in 1994, replaces David Greenberg, who will assume the newly created role of chairman of L’Oreal USA, the French company said Wednesday.
In his current position as president of the consumer products division — which he assumed in 2016 — Perakis-Valat helped lift sales by a third to €16 billion ($18.8 billion) during his tenure, L’Oreal said.
He’ll be replaced atop the consumer products division by another company insider, Fabrice Megarbane, currently chief global growth officer.
