A partial acquisition bid for the various activities of French premium fashion distribution giant IKKS, currently in receivership, was recently put forward by the Amoniss company, one of several interested parties. The businessman behind Amoniss is Salih Halassi, 50, previously involved in relaunching socks brand Kindy. In 2023, in partnership with Lee Cooper France and Ibisler Tekstil, Amoniss bought French fashion retailer Pimkie, with more than 200 stores, from the Mulliez group.

Halassi, who hails from Troyes and started his career in the textiles trade, and was later in the fabric printing sector, is keen to grow his business through acquisitions. In July, he was in the running to buy French label Naf Naf, which was eventually acquired by Brittany-based group Beaumanoir. Working below the radar, Halassi managed to buy another reputable French apparel name, casualwear brand Chevignon.

At the start of 2025, it transpired that Stéphane Collaert, who had bought Chevignon in 2019 with Thierry Le Guénic, and later went solo, was no longer the brand’s owner. Chevignon’s commercial staff attended various trade shows to present the brand’s fall/winter collection, but wouldn’t be drawn on the new owner’s identity.

Eventually, in mid-September, Amoniss went public as the new owner of Établissements Charles Chevignon, the company that runs the French brand, renowned for its tops and leather jackets. Chevignon currently operates two stores in Paris, and others in Cannes, Toulouse and Le Touquet. On its e-shop, the brand says it is present at half a dozen Galeries Lafayette branches.

Contacted by FashionNetwork.com about Chevignon’s strategy, Halassi has not responded. After announcing a distribution deal with Shein in September, he seems to have opted to keep a low profile.
